The body of a woman was found in a freezer in Dhaba on the outskirts of Mitraon village in Najafgarh. The suspect was identified as Sahil Gahlot and was arrested by police. According to police, they have been in a relationship for years.
The crime division said, “The defendant murdered his girlfriend, Nikki Yadav, by strangling her with a cell phone cord. Sahil took her corpse to his dabba and stored it in her refrigerator.”
The deceased was a resident of Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, police said.
The victim’s father told her ANI, “The accused should be hanged to death. We learned of her death yesterday.
Police said Sahil murdered the victim and married another girl that same day. The incident occurred on the night of February 9-10. Police said they received information about the incident on February 10 and sent a team to the village of Mitraon to search for the fugitive suspect.
Police said the acused tried to mislead the team during the initial interrogation. They revealed that they had kept her body in a dhaba refrigerator in a vacant lot on the outskirts of the village,” he added.
According to police, Sahil and Nikki met while attending their respective training centers in Uttam Nagar, became friends and later fell in love.
“In February 2018, the accused was admitted to his College of Galgotia in Noida, and the deceased was also admitted to the same college for Bachelor of Arts (English Hons.). Afterwards, the two began living together in a rented house in Greater Noida. They became very close and also traveled to several places such as Manali, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun,” police said.
During the investigation, it was stated that “his family pressured him to marry another girl, and eventually in December 2022, the defendant’s engagement and marriage to another girl were announced on February 9, 2023 and the marriage took place on February 10, 2023. Accused did not inform the deceased of his engagement or plans to marry.”
When Nikki learned of his marriage and confronted him, police said the suspect used a data cable from his cell phone to strangle her and put her body in her refrigerator. The defendant subsequently married another woman on the same day.
