For the First time in history, the union law secretary was directly elevated to the position of judge in Delhi high court. Anoop Kumar Mendiratta before being appointed as union law secretary worked as judge in Karkardooma court in Delhi itself.

The notification related to appointments in Delhi High court is published on the website by the Department of justice. The name of four judges was mentioned in the notification that was elevated to Delhi high court as judges and Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta is among the four.

Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta was appointed on the basis of seniority government told the media. He was also recommended by the supreme court collegium.
