Nearly 5000 cases are pending against the legislators in different courts of India. This data is collected by amicus curiae by looking into pending criminal cases till 1st December 2021.

Representation of people act, 1951 describes the disqualification for person contesting for election of legislative assembly or parliament or for any other legislation.
Section 8 states that person imprisoned for more than 2 two years can’t stand in election for next six years.
