Nearly 5000 cases are pending against the legislators in different courts of India. This data is collected by amicus curiae by looking into pending criminal cases till 1^st December 2021.

The friend of court-appointed by the apex court for collecting data of pending criminal cases against legislators for establishing special court that will fast track courts for solving cases against Member of Parliament and Member of the legislative assembly.

The trend of criminalization is increasing day by day in politics. By it’s our means that the criminals getting elected in elections of MPs and State legislature. This shows the connection between criminals and politicians.

There is no disqualification given under Indian constitutions for person who is contesting elections of legislative assembly or parliament or for any other legislation.

Representation of people act, 1951 describes the disqualification for person contesting for election of legislative assembly or parliament or for any other legislation.

Section 8 states that person imprisoned for more than 2 two years can’t stand in election for next six years.
