Justice Uttam Anand was an additional district judge and session judge at Dhanbad. Yesterday morning he went out for a walk outside the judges’ colony campus. On his way, he was hit by a vehicle. The footage of the accident was recorded on a CCTV camera.
The offending vehicle was the stolen vehicle which was seized by the Jharkhand police with the arrest of two suspects.
The President of the Supreme Court Bar Association taken up the matter before the Supreme Court. He told the bench headed by justice Chandrachud that how the judge went for his morning walk hit by the suspicious vehicle. The judge was dealing with the bail applications of the gangsters. This is an attack on the whole judicial fraternity. He asked the apex court to take the suo moto cognizance of the matter.
Justice Chandrachud decided for mentioning the matter before the CJI, Vikas Singh is also agreed to the same.
After the word with CJI, the court informed that the matter was taken up by the Chief justice of Jharkhand. The investigation is initiated.
