DGP Satish Mathur summoned on Wednesday by SC after being irked at the cluelessness of the officers present in Court when asked about their investigation into the manner in which the 68 girls were rescued from the state of Maharashtra ,originally belongs to Rajasthan.
In January last year, on receiving a tip from the Petitioner NGO, Rescue Foundation Police had conducted a raid at a brothel in Shahada, Nandurbar, pursuant to which seven girls, including five minors, were retrieved. The minor girls were sent to the child welfare committee.
The High Court further ruled that CWC had only power to deal with minor girls. The girls who need proper care and welfare will be treated by CWC and the parents who are claiming their child will be handover to them.
But later Further it is noted by Supreme court that CWC had handover minor child to so-called parents and they are only people who sell the girls or do human trafficking .However seeing this SC order that the custody will be given to NGO for proper safety. In doing so, the Court had taken note of the fact that the NGO has been doing some good work and has been taking care of the children in need of protection and care.
