A day after scholars were detained from Delhi University’s Faculty over tried screening of the BBC talkie, ‘INDIAN:THE MODI QUESTION’ the university has constituted a seven- member commission to “ apply discipline and maintain law and order in the University ” and look into the incidents of January 27. The announcement issued by the Registrar of the university on Saturday stated that the Vice-Chancellor has constituted the commission which will be chaired by Rajni Abbi, proctor of Delhi University. The commission comprises six other members, including Prof Rama, Hansraj College, and Prof Dinesh Khattar, Kirorimal College. The announcement states that the commission may specifically look into the incident of 27th January, 2023 which happenned outside the Opposite GateNo. 4, University of Delhi. The commission is needed to submit its report on Monday, January 30, to theVice-Chancellor. On Friday, 24 scholars from the Faculty were detained by the police. There was a conflict between the university’s security force and scholars. The screening of the documentary planned to be held at Delhi University, one by NSUI and another by the Bhim Army Student Federation. The DU administration had said on Friday that no authorization was given for either.
