Chief Justice of India N V Ramana going to hear the proceeding of important cases in his last working day i.e. 25 August as a judge of the apex court.
CJI will attend the hearing of the cases like the review of PMLA judgment, Bilkis Bano case and Pegasus Spyware case, etc by sitting in different six benches.
Firstly, CJI sit in the bench consisting of Justice Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli to pronounce the decision in civil cases.
After that CJI Ramana will sit in the bench consisting of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Hima Kohli to hear the case of Pegasus spyware case. In this case, they will look into the report submitted by Justice RV Raveendran, judge of the Supreme Court. The committee was constituted in October 2021 to investigate the allegation alleged upon the government.
Later the day the same bench above mentioned will hear the case of a security lapse during the PM visit to Punjab. The court constituted a committee headed by Justice Indu Malhotra, Judge of the Supreme Court to investigate the matter and thereafter submit the award.
After this CJI sit in the bench with Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice Ravikumar to hear a review petition against the judgment which upheld the sections of the prevention of the Money Laundering act which gave arbitrary powers to ED for arrest, raid and attachment and strict bail provisions.
In the Later half of the day, CJI will join Justice Ajay Rastogi and Justice Vikram Nath in a hearing of Bilikis Bano case in which 11 convicts were premature released by the government of Gujarat.
CJI NV RAMANA will retire from the office on August 26.
